OK, calm down, people. Seems we have quite some time, crises and EU commissions until this regulation could come into effect.
From the #chatcontrol Q&A:
> It is expected to be fully operational by 2030 as preparation for the new detection, reporting and removal process, including the creation of the database of child sexual abuse indicators, should by then be complete.
🇩🇪 Der heute vorgestellte #Chatkontrolle-Gesetzentwurf der EU bedeutet Grundrechtsterrorismus gegen Vertrauen, Selbstbestimmung und Sicherheit im Netz.

I just noticed "foreach" on npm is controlled by a single maintainer.
I also noticed they let their personal email domain expire, so I bought it before someone else did.
I now control "foreach" on NPM, and the 36826 projects that depend on it.

Morning thoughts, unicorns, startup culture
Yesterday on Dutch TV a startup that made Forbes most influential this-and-that (missed the start)..
Startup: "Yes, we replace traditional CV applications with playing games, bla bla bla.."
Amsterdam mayor: "So you are trying to remove discrimination from the job application market?"
Startup: "Ah yes, exactly!"
Presenter: "What are future plans?"
Startup: "To become a unicorn!"
Everyone: "A uni.. what??"
Morning thoughts, unicorns, startup culture
I think there's a huge desire to find the next unicorn within the UK and Europe and that is to the detriment of our entire tech ecosystem.
We should not be trying to emulate companies that make money out of the capture of millions of accounts and their data.
We should be trying to build an ecosystem of lots of smaller companies and encouraging them to partner together. Creating a culture of cooperation rather than competition.

@chaosexanima there have been discussions about using #IPFS as a CDN to host media. By design, all instances would be an IPFS node and, with content-addressing, all media would become replicated over the network and raising availability, like a global cache so a single instance don't have the burden to serve content for everyone.
See also @peertube that use p2p so viewers help seeding the content while watching it, lowering the cost (sort of opportunistic CDN).

@rysiek As much as I love laughing at the Internet of Shit, these screws actually might make sense for some use cases.
For example, a wind turbine out at sea. If you know that the screws are still tight, you don’t have to ferry people out there in a helicopter. Helis are expensive, so better pay for sensor screws.
Connected sensors are often useful. IoT generally turns to shit when you add an actor to the sensor.
The most promising of these IMO is Crystal. Its syntax is inspired by Ruby, but it's statically typed and ahead-of-time compiled with LLVM. Unlike Go, it has sum types which are used to represent nil-able values, like Rust's Option<T>. Like Go, it has a garbage collector, and uses green threads and channels for concurrency.
#RightToRepair will become an absolute necessity in the near future. Having all the supply chain completely fucked up and prices all over increasing like never before, people will need to learn how to do stuff themselves instead of pulling a credit card.
